TGIF!! 10 Sep 2010

DH gets back from his elk hunting trip on Saturday. Lady K and I have had a fun week all to ourselves...a little bit of shopping, a movie at the show and a lot of movies at home, a Big Bang Theory season 2 marathon, several trips to Abbotts Frozen Custard, some long distance walks...all in all a good chickie week.

No big plans for the weekend. Maybe a movie for Lady K and me, another couple of walks around the marsh, a wee bit of grocery shopping, some sleeping in....

TGIF!! Do you celebrate Black Friday?

I was going to post an image of some kind of chaos and mayhem that would celebrate the day that is known as Black Friday (click for the Wikipedia definition of this day), but happy bunnies seemed nicer.

So do you go out and join the crowds and dig into the sale bins and racks to get that perfect gift that is at it's lowest lowest price? Or do you do like Lady K and I did this morning and hit Lowes for power strips and some new additions to the Christmas village (girl walking four dogs, a bench, and four more carollers) and then a nice drive-thru at nearby Star$$ for Lady K's mocha frappe with caramel drizzle and my salute to the season, venti nonfat caramel brulee latte. I am usually a venti nonfat, no water chai...but I dare a foo-foo coffee this time of year. Then home to wait for DH to wake up. Off to breakfast soon afterward and maybe SuperTarget for the 32" TV they have the smokin' deal on.

We do plan on getting our tree today at our favorite nursery, Garden Country. We'll decorate it and the house and then enjoy leftovers from yesterday's delish turkey dinner.

Training schtuff, sick child, prep for travel....TGIF indeed! This weekend will be more prep for the travel to Virginia next week, so that's packing and shopping for wedding presents. DH said he'll get out the Halloween decorations for Lady K and I to start putting up inside the house. We'll do the outdoor ones when we get back.

We'll be busy, but not overwhelmed I hope.

Ahhhh....I am working on 24 hours awake as I was on a mid shift last night and wasn't sleepy when I got home. Tired, but not sleepy. I read for a while and got up and went to TJ Maxx to look at Christmas presents for Lady K so that I could get them and get them hidden before she's home from school.

Tomorrow is the hunting trip up to Bailey. It's been snowing in the mountains, so not sure how far we'll get, but DH really wants to get up there and look at the leaves changing colors, look for rocks and driftwood and hopefully elk sign.

Sunday will be quiet day as far as I am concerned.

The weekend is off to a rousing start. I worked a swing shift last night, got to bed by 0100, up by 0600 to get Lady K ready for BASE. They saw 'Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs' today. Lady K gives it a thumbs up and is ready to see it again with me on Sunday morning. I cleaned floors for today's chore. I got to use the brand new Windtunnel. Holey mackanoley, that thing can suck up the crud...and our house isn't cruddy! It definitely isn't now. The thing weighs a ton, so I'm glad we got this well after my new hip so I can lug it up and down the stairs.

Tomorrow is the super fun day. Out to breakfast, a birthday party at Little Chefs for Lady K where she and the other partiers will make their own pizzas. It's in a pretty nice shopping center, so this might be a drop-off party and DH and I can go meander about. At 3pm, we will be in Denver on the corner of Broadway and Cedar at WhoElseBooks for a book signing of one of my favorite authors, Jeanne Stein. RETRIBUTION, #5 in the Anna Strong series, is out now and I will get my copy there to support the independent bookstore and get to meet Jeanne!! I am beyond excited.

DH is going to a blues concert in Lyons tomorrow evening and might stay the night with our buds he's going with. I know he is looking forward to the show.

Sunday is NFL for DH and the movies for Lady K and me.

Happy Friday!! A busy evening tonight prepping for the party tomorrow. This is our first 'do' in several years and we have some prep. I will mow the lawn, make potato salad, a veggie tray, a fruit tray, apple dump cake (my first), help DH make a McCrapload of hamburgers.....the list do go on.

We are all pretty much looking forward to this 'do', Lady K most of all. She's got the countdown to the 'par-tay' as she has taken to calling it.

Sunday will be the first official Redskin game of the new season, so DH will be in the mancave and Lady K and I will be otherwise occupied, likely out of the house.

TGIF!! Holey mackanolee, it was a long week of training to be topped off with the test today to see if everything soaked in. Apparently it did with me, I passed with reasonably flying colors...sort of floaty pastel-y. So the PTB can have even more confidence in my abilities and I can move on to the next level of training....
Plans for the weekend...semi-normal with breakfast out, grocery shopping, shopping-shopping since there's an Eddie Bauer coupon burning a hole in my purse.
Might mow the lawn if it cools off in the afternoon or early in the morning if DH gets up from sleeping in either day. I have some wood blinds to clean, that might wait.
I'd love to watch my Dresden Files Season Only on DVD. Or My Name is Bruce, starring my boyfriend Bruce Campbell...sigh....got those with a heckuva nifty DVD deal with a coupon from B&N.

TGIF people!! The week was pretty good if a little extra busy. The weekend looks mellow so far. Usual of out to breakfast and grocery shopping. Maybe a side trip to EddieBauer and/or DSW to use the coupons they insist on sending out.
Today was the last day of Summer BASE and school doesn't start until 19 Aug, so DH stays home with Lady K Monday and Tuesday and I am home for Chickie Days Wed-Fri and the following Mon and Tues. Movies, shopping, chill time.....
What are your plans? I hope they are fun and mellow.

Ahhhhh....cool refreshing picture...now that it's getting back to normal summer weather here in Colorado, we might partake of our own cool refreshing pool..we'll see. No big plans. We swabbed the decks last weekend, DH is recovering from not feeling 100%, no one has to work a shift. I think it will be grocery shopping, out to breakfast or lunch, and chill time. Maybe we'll go see Harry Potter - Half Blood Prince this weekend. Also have Leverage Season 1 on DVD, Dollhouse Season 1 came out this week so that's on the 'to get' list for today. I have Lady K's school supplies to see to and hide or she'll want to get them all out and we'll have to start over again....

Mellow weekend for us. I am working a swing shift this evening, DH is working one tomorrow. Lady K and I will go see G-Force in the morning and goof around. Sunday will be grocery shopping and more chill time. DH and I are cleaning house today...whooopee! Just love mowing lawn and cleaning bathrooms! Partay! = D

TGIF people!! My dad is coming for a visit from his home in Ottawa KS. He'll be here this afternoon. We will take him to a new-to-us, highly fab rated restaurant in Boulder, Lucile's Creole Kitchen for breakfast in the AM. Boulder Farmer's Market afterwards, then on to Garden Country Nursery for a reload of plants we love to dig in. Sunday is a trip to Golden for brunch and a meander down the streets for some shopping. Can't remember the name of the shop, but it is mostly gardening treasures and just too much fun.

Yippee!!! I love three day weekends when we get them. This one includes a project, but not nearly as labor intensive as the patio project we did over Memorial Day weekend. We are adding brick to sort of widen the driveway. We have a stubborn bit of front lawn right next to where I park my car that will not grow grass, so we will brick it and make it an area a little more pleasing to the eye and feet. We'll do the other side of the driveway when we get more brick.

The rest of time will be spent looking for rain that seems inevitable and playing in the pool when it's nice. I am not saying boo about the rain, the gardens can use it. Hopefully no more hail as the veggie plants can't take it. They are just now recovering from the last one that hammered us.

OH, and there are movies to be seen at the show. I think I'll take Lady K to see the new Ice Age flick.

Have a fairly mellow weekend again ahead of us. Putting the pool together tomorrow after we try another new-to-us restaurant for breakfast. Go to Lowes for some rescue plants and a tarp for the groundcover under the pool. I like mellow no big project weekends...What are your plans??

Hope you have a happy Friday and a swell weekend. Ours will be quiet. Only big plans are to try a new-to-us place, Village Coffee, over in Boulder for breakfast in the morning. Sunday will be Fathers Day and we will take DH to Papadeaux Seafood Kitchen for their Sunday brunch. Yummmmy!
I know we have a glider to put together. Our wooden glider is on its last glides, so we found one that fits us and the space. Lady K gave her approval when she found she could lie down for naps there.....

This TGIF pic seems perfect....Lady K and I hit the road in the 0'dark'early hours in the AM for our trip to Ottawa Kansas to my Dad's house. We will meet up with my sister and her two boys and my mom will drive up from her house in Fort Scott Kansas to honcho the cooking while Dad, Seester, the nephews, me and Lady K all hunker down to the landscaping and such....gonna be a good week!

Hope you have a good weekend!! Lady K and I are starting ours a little early with a Chickie Day. We made each other breakfast (cold toast with peanut butter and honey for me and Minnie Mouse pancakes with ever so slightly torn off ears for Lady K...still working on our techniques), then to see 'Up' at the show, shopping for a bit and lunch out at a new dim sum restaurant in Broomfield called Heaven Sent. A good day all around I'm thinkin'....
