Neighborhood Cleanup Wednesday

Lady K decided to make today a trash pickup day after I made a comment about the newspapers left in the street of our neighborhood this morning. She asked if we could go out with bags and pick up trash when she got home from school. I said absolutely.
It was even more cool when I picked her up at BASE, she told all of her teachers that she and I were going home to pick up trash. And she was excited about it. It put a grin on her face and mine and off we went.
We walked down one side of the street and back up the other. Sadly, we were able to pick up two full bags of trash that included wet newspapers still in the bags and lots of just odds and ends of schtuff that our neighborhood folks just don't want to take the time to pick up. Oh well, it made for a nice walk for Lady K and I and we cleaned the trash and came to the idea that we should do this every Wednesday. And we hope that we can one day come home with empty bags.
Lady K wants everyone to know that if we throw trash in the street, it's like we don't care about the Earth.
This ends our public service announcement....

Vickie she's got such long legs I think she's gonna be tall. You may have your hands full a few years from now, all that blonde hair, always smiling and endless legs!!

Great job Lady K, she still manages to smile picking up other peoples trash!

I was notice how tall she was too. She's going to be a leader. Way to go Lady K.

Love this, Vickie. :)

This is great. We do this in our neighborhood and use an extension grabber so we don't have to touch the trash directly.

She's learning early, that's so great Vickie! My son likes to clean up also and treasure hunt to see what he will find! He will wear gloves as who knows what you will find!!! He's in an eco-kids club at school this year and is loving it.

Sarah: She had a lot of fun and she made it fun for me.
Her Daddy is running through the scenarios when dating begins....

Jenna: She just had a growth spurt, so her legs are catching up to her torso.

SuziBell: I will. Thank you! = )

Melody: Thank you. It really was a good time.

Joy: = )

TexasRed: Good for you! I think we will be looking for something like a grabber or at least wear gloves when we do this next time.

BonnieOH: That's so cool for DS's school to have that! I will have to look into that for Lady K. She's been picking up trash since she could walk. I hate seeing it and would pick it up and she has always had that "Can I help?" attitude. We try to encourage and embrace that.
