The Bee Lady Cometh....saving the bees..one swarm at a time

Deborah bee suitin' up...

Brushing the bees into the portable bee box

Bees getting a little agitated

Really REALLY agitated!

Not long after this shot, the bees started fiercely meandering and one landed on my cheek and left its stinger...Lady K and I headed inside most speedily then.

We think Bee Lady got most of the swarm, she'll be back to get the rest this evening when they've had a chance to mellow.

The bees started swarming again this afternoon and packed in on the water hose and the corner of the house on the downspout, so a call to Bee Lady was in order. Had a discussion with neighbors as the bees came out and several phone calls have ensued since as the bees are working their swarm mojo all over town. I am just glad that people want to spare the bees and let someone give them a good home...the word is getting out!!!

Mary: The bees should be happy. The hive we have in the cottonwood tree is still thriving, the swarms yesterday were either from another place and found someone living in the tree they coveted or it's another queen that hatched and another batch of bees decided to move out.
The sting went down pretty quickly. We acted fast, got the stinger out and ice on it and it went down.

Sherri: I loved watching the bees and was pleased Bee Lady could come get them. We need to do what we can.

Wow, quite an adventure. You try to do the right thing, and you get sting(ed?). I'll hope one of your next bee-stories is about honey ;)

Aurian: *grin* I don't mind the sting, the girl was just trying to do her job and I can respect that.

glad you're all right-- bee stings can be nasty if you're allergic!

And Aurian had a good point, do you get honey out of it?

XOXO J.

Jeanne: Thankfully, I'm not allergic. Wish we got honey out of it. We get the bees buzzing around our plants and pollinatin' to their hearts' content.
