WAIT TIL YOUR VAMPIRE GETS HOME - Michele Bardsley

From the back of the book: It's one thing to date a single father with emotional baggage....but quite another to date one who's dead.
It's only because of my work as a paranormal investigator that I, Libby Monroe, end up in a town like Broken Heart, Oklahoma, chasing down bizarre rumors of strange goings-on----and finding vampires, lycanthropes, and zombies. Oh, my!
I never expected to fall in lust, but sexy vampire Ralph Genessa is too irresistible. The fact that he's the loving father of twin boys drives the nail into my coffin and wins my undying love. And you know what they say: Home is where the heart is. Only this town is being torn in two by a war between the undead, and I may be the oly thing that can hold Broken Heart together.

I don't typically dig on paranormal romance, but I do love this series. I've reviewed two of the three of the series, BECAUSE YOUR VAMPIRE SAID SO and OVER MY DEAD BODY. (my reviews) Michele had me at I'M THE VAMPIRE THAT'S WHY. Excellent premise of a little town in Oklahoma being taken over by supernatural beings for a place to call their own, the shenanigans, some kickass fighting to keep the town and the hot monkey love. It's all tied up in a witty paranormal package that keeps me reading more when other paranormal romance books don't do nearly as much for me since they don't make me laugh like Michele's characters do.
Libby Monroe stumbles into Broken Heart while on the hunt for paranormal beings. This has been her life's work having been raised in the atmosphere with her parents. She immediately meets vampires and werewolves and dragons and gets told by Queen Patsy that she will not be allowed to leave Broken Heart, she knows too much.
It's a lot funnier than my review can let on, but I don't want to give anything away. There are some yummy love scenes, dragonfire, vampire schtuff....all good fun.
I found a neat tidbit in the pages, too. Libby is looking for something to read on Ralph's (her honey-vamp) shelves of books and finds the fab GRAVEDIGGERS WANTED: NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY - Jeff Strand (my review in the link). I read this superbly funny thriller in June 2009 on the recommendation of J A Konrath and after reading an interview Konrath did with his buddy Jeff. Michele notes this in the afterward and I became an even bigger fan.
Five it's funny in Oklahoma beans.......

OVER MY DEAD BODY - Michele Bardsley

From the back of the book: Reality truly does bite.
With my ex-husband out of my life after attempting murder (on me!), and my little daughter, Glory, having not uttered a word since that awful night, Broken Heart, Oklahoma, seems like the perfect sanctuary for us. And I, Simone Sweet, am ready to start a new life. I just didn't figure it would be an eternal one.
But then local hunk Braddock Hayes turns my undead world upside down. He's the only one who sees me as I really am, and let me tell you, he makes my fangs quiver. But if he finds out the truth about my past, it would just about kill me (if I weren't already dead, that is). Luckily, no one knows better than me that things aren't always as they appear.
******************************
I typically shy away from pararnormal romance since it is all about the romance bordering on erotica, which I don't mind since I am by no stretch of the imagination a prude, but I like my paranormal action on the streets not in the sheets. But this series pushes other buttons with a good story for each of the women who were bitten in the town of Broken Heart, Oklahoma and the street action that accompanies the sheet action. There's some grit to appease my requirements, humor in the dialogue, and well drawn characters.
I was first pulled to the series by the titles. I am a sucker for a fab title. The story sold me and I will keep reading the series as long as Michele keeps writing them.
Four not so dead body beans....

BECAUSE YOUR VAMPIRE SAID SO - Michele Bardsley

I do like this fun series. It took me a little while to get into this particular entry. Once I did (about halfway in) I enjoyed my time with it. It's a very quick read, done in one day of a shift. If I hadn't been interrupted by meetings and actual work, I'd have finished faster. Quick and light dialogue. And O..M..G! HAW-AWT sex scenes. Yummeh! Michele can write the sizzle, fer shure.
Single mom, Patsy, is Broken Heart's beautician. Most of her clientele has been moved out of town since really no humans allowed except the children of the newly turned vampires. So she starts thinking grooming the werewolf population might be an alternative. She meets a silver wolf and he turns out to be Gabriel, her soulmate. She's also told that she's supposed to fulfill a prophecy...be the queen....Queen Patsy...okie doke....
My favorite of the series remains the first one I read, I'M THE VAMPIRE THAT'S WHY. Michele had me with that title. This one is a close second.
Three sharp beans....
