CURING THE BLUES WITH A NEW PAIR OF SHOES: Domestic Equalizers #5 - Dixie Cash, narr Peggity Price

From the back of the BOCD: The best-selling Dixie Cash novels featuring Domestic Equalizers Debbie Sue Overstreet and Edwina Perkins-Martin go down like a cold sarsaparilla on a hot Texas day. In Cash's CURING THE BLUES, the duo's many charms get the royal treatment in a side-splitting romp featuring pop music's most riveting figure.
Hey, baby, Debbie and Edwina aren't likely to thank anybody very much when a despicable sneak thief pilfers Elvis Presley's blue suede shoes--the main exhibit at a Salt Lick, Texas, festival for the King. Substituting old slippers for the stolen memorabilia, the irrepressible Equalizers are fit to be tied when the mystery of the missing footwear leads to even more curious happenings. But that's still not enough---not by a long shot!----to keep the ol' gals from doing a little matchmaking along the way.
Cash's delightful Lone Star State adventure proves as tasty as a bacon, banana, and peanut-butter sandwich---especially with a lively reading from acclaimed narrator Peggity Price.

I didn't think this one was as good as the past books in the series have been, but it was still highly enjoyable. I do love the colorful language, the cocktails, the matchmaking, the mystery and definitely the characters. The combination of the Dixie Cash writing team and the delightful Peggity Price giving voice to Debbie Sue and Edwina is winning one fer shure.
I know the formula by now, there is a new girl character, a new boy character, new boy and new girl tussle and eventually get together with the help of Debbie Sue and Edwina.
There is a myster to solve, sometimes things get a little out of hand, but it all works out. A Texas cozy mystery of the finest kind.
Elvis Presley visited Salt Lick back in the day when he was 19, he was given a pair of blue suede shoes. This famous pair of shoes eventually makes its way back to Salt Lick in time for the annual birthday celebration held each 9 January. Said famous shoes go missing from the diner where the celebration will be held and Debbie Sue and Edwina are on the case. Especially since the sheriff is a clueless goober. He's ineptitude is funny to listen to and listening to Debbie Sue control her temper and steer him in the right direction is priceless.
Four thank you, thank you very much beans.....

DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE BETWEEN YOU AND MY SHOES: Domestic Equalizers #4 - Dixie Cash, narr Peggity Price

From the back of the BOCD: Dixie Cash---best-selling Texas author of MY HEART MAY BE BROKEN, BUT MY HAIR STILL LOOKS GREAT---thrills millions with the ongoing antics of Lone Star duo Debbie Sue Overstreet and Edwina Perkins-Martin. This rollicking tale sends Salt Lick's own sleuthing cosmetologists on a collision course with the Big Apple.
When they receive an all-expensese-paid trip to a New York City PI convention, Debbie Sue basks in the glow of validation while Edwina sets her sights on some Fifth Avenue footwear. After raising a ruckus at the Dallas airport, the Texas Tornadoes arrive in New York, where they befriend a small-town librarian. While helping the bashful gal hook up with an NYPD detective, the Domestic Equalizers stumble across a charming killer who could leave them both stone-cold in their new Jimmy Choos.
Peggity Price's spot-on narration keeps listeners laughing as the zany pair--high on hairspray, rodeo boots, and stiletto heels---confronts big-city life.

Lordy! This one is the best one yet of the series!!! The mystery started a lot earlier and the romance was fairly mellow. I honestly don't mind when the mystery starts or how much romance goes on...so long as Debbie Sue and Edwina do their thang, this reader/listener is a happy pup.
Debbie Sue and Edwina are asked to head up to New York City to speak at a convention. There are some gaffes and snafu's, but that's to be expected. And I kept cracking up throughout. Bless their hearts, they take NYC and the NYPD and the bad guys by storm.
What they may lack in 'sophistication' they more than make up for with their common ordinary horse sense. They can read a scene and people like no one bidness and that works in their favor when they discover a likely serial killer.
I think I am getting this whole series on audio for my keeper shelf. I would love to visit with the gals any time I want.
Five big ol' NYC ain't seen nuthin' yet diamonds....

I GAVE YOU MY HEART, BUT YOU SOLD IT ONLINE: Domestic Equalizers #3 - Dixie Cash, narr Peggity Price

From the back of the BOCD: Dixie Cash novels score critical accolades while slaying readers with witty mysteries starring the Domestic Equalizers, aka Debbie Sue Overstreet and her best friend Edwina. In their third outing, the gals from Salt Lick, Texas, wrangl with a mystery involving a handsome bull-riding champeen.
It's apparent to 12-year-old Jill that her I'm-just-fine-without-a-man mom Allison has grown jaded and needs to get back on the dating scene. So she goes on the Internet and lands a catch Allison would be crazy to throw back: strapping rodeo star Quint Matthews. It seems like the perfect match, but Quint comes to town with a heap o' trouble in tow. Now Quint must turn to the spunky Domestic Equalizers to find out who's tailing him before somebody ends up dead as armadillo roadkill.
Peggity Price captures all the West Texas flavor with a narration that adds spice and sizzle to this side-splitting tale.

Oh, how I love this series. I did have to suffer through DH's chatter about some 'anomalies' in the logic, but I know to go with the flow...anomalies schanomalies....Debbie Sue and Ed crac me the hell up!
The mystery kind of meanders and really doesn't make a show until later in the book and that's okay, too. It's also secondary to the sort of romance between Allison and Quint, then later really heats up between Allison and Tag, the best friend of Quint. Allison meets Quint via her daughter's good intentions of the online dating service. She thinks Quint is easy on the eyes, but a little full of himself. Quint takes her to a restaurant that his best friend owns and Allison meets Tag...owner of the restaurant. And they keep meeting up and falling more for each other, but unwilling to do more about it because of Quint.
Quint is in his own world of trouble and hires Debbie Sue and Edwina to help him out. Debbie Sue still thinks of Quint as a good friend and everyone else thinks Quint is an egotistical ex-boyfriend of Debbie Sue, in particular Debbie Sue's husband.
Favorite scene in the book is the 'toy' party...O..M..G!!! It has to be read or listened to, I really cannot do it justice here....but...O..M..G funny!
Please do yourself a favor, if you like a funny mystery, please get this book, this series!
Five funny funny Texas diamonds.....

MY HEART MAY BE BROKEN, BUT MY HAIR STILL LOOKS GREAT - Dixie Cash, narr Peggity Price

From the back of the BOCD: Dixie Cash, author of I GAVE YOU MY HEART, BUT YOU SOLD IT ONLINE, has won a huge following for her special brand of lighthearted romance. In this spirited novel, Cash's two unforgettable private investigators are back for another tangy Texas two-step.
Debbie Sue Overstreet and Edwina Perkins-Martin are two of the sassiest hairdressers in Salt Lick, Texas. But these two spunky ladies do more than spice up the 'dos of their gossipy patrons. They also moonlight as the Domestic Equalizers, PIs wit the best hair in the Lone Star State. Not ones to turn down a juicy assignment, Debbie Sue and Edwina get involved in a case of missing horses--and may very well make or break the budding romance between a spoiled rich girl and the town's handsome veterinarian.
MY HEAR MAY BE BROKEN...delivers all the romance and humor that Cash's fans eat up in Texas-size portions. And narrator Peggity Price adds to the enjoyment of another surefire hit.

O...M...G!!! Yeah, I know, I've been starting quite a few of latest blog reviews with this, but this book totally deserves the OMG, I swear!
This was the perfect listen, snort laugh funny, excellent characters I could easily dig, and a good mystery with no murder. Missing horses was the main investigation along with the cheating husbands that are par for the two Domestic Investigators.
Main story was Paige McBride and her getting over herself to become a charming young woman...she had a trek to get there. She was born rich and had everything she ever wanted. When she is almost 25, her daddy turns her loose from the funds to make her grow up. Bless her heart, she does her best to find a job, but she's not qualified to do much. She does find a job working on a horse farm in Salt Lick and meets the local veterinarian and does not make a good first impression.
Debbie Sue and Edwina do their darndest to help move things along. And each meeting is so funny and sweet. Debbie Sue and Ed take Paige under their margarita-fueled wings and let her know they are there for her in friendship.
Spur Atwater is the new veterinarian in town. Now, typically, I would toss the book aside with the main man character having a name like Spur, but it's explained (the kids in the family are named for whichever town their family is living at the time) and I already love Dixie Cash's books, so I got over the name.
I also loved the narrator, Peggity Price. She did a wonderful job of voicing all of the characters, nothing too over the top Texan.
I just bumped up the next in the series, I GAVE YOU MY HEART, BUT YOU SOLD IT ONLINE, to the top of my RecordedBooks wishlist. I think I am going to have to get these for my keeper shelf to listen to at anytime I need a *snort laugh* lift. I strongly suggest you get one of this series for a good mystery, good laugh and some good romance.
